How Closure Decisions Work

Flathead County school districts collaborated on the following procedures:

• All school districts may independently make the final decision about school closures due to inclement weather.
• Rural elementary districts may close or remain open independent of their high school district. Check the tables above for each school's status.
• There are 23 school districts. When closure decisions are made or bus route changes occur, the County Superintendent is informed as early as possible, then notifies the predetermined media outlets: Bee Broadcasting and KOFI.
• School closures factor in several variables. Parents always have the right to do what they feel is best for their own children.

Unless otherwise noted, early outs (EO) are pre-planned. The reason for any school closure will be noted in the Comments column or in the notice near the top of this page.
