What You Can Do Online
Many motor vehicle tasks can be completed online without visiting the office. Online services include:
- Registration renewals
- Replacement decals, titles, and plates
- Registration reprints
- Vehicle mailing address changes, if you have a Montana-issued ID

Registration Renewals
A black drop box for registration renewals is located to the right of the information window, the first window inside the building. Renewals placed in the box are processed and returned to you by mail (USPS).
Proof of Residency
Effective April 1, 2019 (revised October 11, 2023), you must provide proof of Flathead County residency.
Provide one of the following:
- A current Montana driver's license or state-issued ID
- Property ownership in Flathead County. Under Montana law, the vehicle must be titled under the same name the property is under.
Or provide two different items from this list:
- Current utility bill showing your name and local address
- Current paystub showing your name and local address
- Current Social Security or retirement check showing your name and local address
- Current credit card statement showing your name and local address
Rental or lease agreements and bank statements are no longer accepted.
Out-of-State LLC Title Work
Out-of-state LLC customers must process title and registration through a state-approved authorized agent. View the list of authorized agents.
